Yesterday, I bought my laptop! ^______^ And just now, I got it connected to the internet at home! - Wireless: Woo-to-the-Oot!! XD
It was actually next to a miracle that I got this notebook; it IS the same one I was looking at a week or three ago. And for the same amazing price, too!!
I found out that Best Buy still had the laptop, so after work, I ran over. There they informed me that they were all out!!! BUT! There was still hope: two stores in the Metroplex still had the comps, and I was equally distanced from both. So I hurried to the one I know best, and got there in about 20 minutes. I asked the rep, "I came all the way from [Hometown] to get this compy! They said you still have it!"
"Did they...?" the rep replied. "Because actually...... We just sold the last one about 20 minutes ago."
"NOOOOOOO!!!" <-- For real, y'all. What are the odds, I was asking myself. "Well.... can I take this one??" <--Desperation.
*goes to check* "Because this is a discontinued item, I can sell the display laptop. And actually, it is the absolute last one, so..."
"I'll take it!!!"
And then I got a discount since he was the display that everyone touched and checked out. ^__^
Mr. Acer (It's his name even though it's also his brand. I think it's a good name for a compy!) is uber awesomeness! He's fast and sleek! For MUCH less than 1k, I have the Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor, 160GB HDD, 1GB DDR2, a 14.1 inch LCD screen that is SOOOOO pretty, and Windows Vista Home Premium - which I'm currently loving a whole lot more than XP. ^__^ There are other bonuses, but these were the specs that I was looking for. What's really cool is that he only weighs 5.23 lbs. =D I wanted under 5.5, so it's all good. 8)
Best Buy kept him over night to restore him and install/un-install the security and trial programs, so I didn't have to do a thing when I picked him up at 1 today. All day long, I was dragged shopping, much to my SEVERE annoyance, but it was actually useful (I'll post about that in a separate post). Then I had to fight with the modem to allow me to connect which a call to AT&T solved.
So now I'm up and running. ^__^ I'm SOOO excited! I have like.... 8 or so things I need to type up. Plus My Space and Facebook. And updating ff.net. And then there are those memes I haven't done. Oh, and some e-mails I owe people...............
Yeah, I'm gonna be busy. XD

Date: 2007-09-23 03:38 am (UTC)YOU = SOCOOL! WITH YER LAPTOP! AND NOW WE CAN...ER....I DUNNO! (what do laptops to together?? Er...we shall not think about it)
Mine is a Dell, which I have yet to name, but it is large and heavy and the DVD player stopped working a couple days ago. Though, to be fair, I wasn't exctly gentle with that 'close when it wants to' part of my computer. But! It hasn't died on me yet, whereas Mike's has died at least twice on him. So poo to Macs, and yAAAAY TO US!
Goo, now the Dell needs a name. Dilbert is too obvious >.> Err...dexter? dil...we'll stop thinking of things that start with dil. Dumbo, or...dimitri...
My dad always warned me about Acers...and Gateways, for that matter. I think. Heck, this laptop was purchsed 3 years ago--I have no idea what he told me about laptops. Oh! Except that the one that starts with C is underrated.
