Convo from Yesterday: Rock vs Pop
Mar. 23rd, 2007 08:56 amI was too tired last night to give a decent account of this.
Yesterday, as usual, we were listening to the radio in the kitchen. I was prepping grapes while the culinary and other cast members were doing their own prep work.
Well, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus' Face Down came on, and the DJ gave this entry: "I love this song. Just.. listen to the lyrics. They're amazing."
For those of you that don't know RJA, they're an alternative punk band that little pop lovers have decided to love for a solitary song. Much like AFI and MCR - they can only handle certain songs, but they relish in the "Look how cool I am! I'm listening to ROCK!!" feeling. They're so cute.
Anyway, it is an awesome song.
After it was over, the DJ came back on and said, "I just love that song. It's so deep. It's like... music...with a purpose."
I. Died. XDXDXD
Conversations ceased as everyone wanted to know what I thought was so funny.
"Did you hear what she just said?" I asked.
"The..music with a purpose thing?" one of the pop-lovers asked me - she becomes addicted to any song that plays on the station. Like a republican or democrat towing the party line.
"Yeah," I said snickering.
"Well, she's right. It's so amazing! Like, it actually has a purpose!! And it's so true."
I died. Again. And then I said, "I'm sorry. It's just that I listen to that kind of music all the time. It's called rock."
Kitchen: OHHHHHHH!!!!
