After much consideration, researching, and thinking about this yesterday, I was largely undecided whether to participate. On the one hand, I believe that SUP has every right to make business decisions about LJ based purely on business - or monetary - reasons. But, I'm also a firm believer in capitalism, and that's what this strike is all about. That being said, I only came to a decision just now due to something

"Anton Nosik, CEO of SUP, has not reacted favourably to criticism by site users. In an interview given in March of 2008, he accused LiveJournal users of "trying to scare and blackmail us, threatening to destroy our business," and stated that a large class of users have as their only purpose bringing harm to LiveJournal and its founders; "their goal is to criticize, destablilize and ruin our reputation." In the interview, he predicted that his likely reaction to such pressure would be to retaliate against the users rather than bowing to their pressure."
Dude. You're supposed to care what your customers think and treat them with respect. Personally? I'm not feeling very respected by these comments, so I'm supporting the strike.
And yeah, I realize that like a gas strike that's been brought up time and time again, there's no actual threat here: We're all adicted to LJ, and we'll all be back, probably with a spike in traffic. Anyway, thought I'd spread the word first thing this morning.
