Muse sounds like Dr. Who!
Aug. 10th, 2009 12:36 pmMuse has a new song!! \o/
Please tell me I'm not the only person who hears the DW theme. I hear a lot of similarities in music all the time for which I get funny looks, but this one must surely be glaringly obvious! ... Do they do music for the TV show, maybe? O.o
I love it. Gotta love the syncopation, and as the driving force of the song at times. I'm such a sucker for it. And the lyrics... The lyrics are amazing. 8) I know they wrote it for England, but there are quite a few Americans who are jammin' right along with them, too.
Flick the switch and open your third eye, you'd see that
We should never be afraid to die
Rise up and take the power back, it's time that
The fat cats had a heart attack, you know that
Their time is coming to an end
We have to unify and watch our flag ascend
They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious
$1.29 and all, I went ahead and bought it on iTunes. Read through a few of the reviews and was sort of surprised to see so many comments on the "different style." I dunno if it's just me, but... this sounds exactly like Muse's style. A little different instrumentation for the intro, but... guitar's still here, percussion with clapping, the insane background repetitions (that don't sound insane until you imagine moving your fingers that fast AND consecutively), the warbly effects, and the bass line. Even the linear stepwise motion of the verses is somewhat reminiscent of Time is Running Out and Supermassive Black Hole. All in all, very similar to Supermassive Black Hole in bass and percussive style. All very Muse and very cool.
Can't wait til their album comes out in September. 8) It's called The Resistance.
Oooo.... It just SOUNDS awesome.
_\m/ <-- Looks like the rock hand symbol, doesn't it? :D
[/music geek out session]
... Okay, I can't resist.
Anyone wanna talk lyrics? That is politics... I love so many lines in this... Particularly fat cats and green belts wrapped around our minds and especially they will stop degrading us.
