LOL I'm just amused that you essentially have the same core reason for not supporting McCain as I do (he's not a true Republican). And yet the way we arrive at that conclusion is that you consider him Liberal and I just consider him a Douchebag who isn't qualified or the Presidency. ;)
(Incidentally, I was astonished to watch some old SNL from the start of the war in which McCain was on playing Neil Ashcroft, in a biting satire of the operation of Guantanamo Bay. You'd never know it to hear him now...)
This election sucks. Big Government Democrat vs. Big Government Republicans (with their socialist No Child Left Behind nonsense) and there's no choice really. Ultimately Obama does inspire more hope in me, but I can't deny it's a lot to do with the man's poise and eloquence and Kennedyness (McCain's going to look like such a sad sack once those two are on stage together debating.) and I'd really rather be casting my vote for someone who's, well, Libertarian. (You know, the true conservatives. ;)) I haven't made up my mind yet whether I'll write in Ron Paul in a show of support for those ideals, or vote third party (isn't there an actual Libertarian running?), or vote for Obama. I guess we'll just wait and see how close it looks like it's going to be.
Which is a messed up way of doing things, but our messed up system doesn't offer a lot of alternative for those of us who just want to be left alone to be governed on the state and local level, does it? ;)
