Oh, he's a liberal republican all right, a moderate, but more than that, he's a first-rate politician. Just like Slick Willy and John Flip-Floppin' Kerry, sticking his wet finger in the political winds to see which way he should bend.
All though, I think you've got it a bit understated: Enormous Government Democrat Socialist vs Really Big Government Republican. Out of true curiosity, have you read into Obama's policies? Or rather what he says he stands for, as he really doesn't have any policies set forth. The man isn't even a liberal; he's just not. He makes Hillary look conservative! And it's no wonder, considering his communist ties.
I also seriously doubt that Obama will be so great in the debates. McCain may be older than the dinosaurs, but he has more experience in his pinky finger than Obama has in his body. I'm sure he'll have a lot of well-rehearsed lines, but get him in a place without his teleprompter, where he has to think on his own...? He's put himself in so many ridiculous situations already, had to come and say that he "regrets" doing and saying this or that, explaining and re-explaining (see: spinning) what he said only to make an entire reversal. If the man does things (see: political stunts) concerning his children that he regrets, I don't think he characteristically has the merit to hold the highest office in the land!
I think I'll be doing the NOTA thing for my write in. There's an effort going within the conservatives to write it in to declare ourselves as who we are, objecting to both options.
We're pretty lucky though, living in Texas, because it's a conservative state, and Texas is all about the local. Did you know that.... er... my county is the second most conservative county in the nation? Even so, I wish this election wouldn't affect so much, but either one of them is going to throw us into an economic tailspin.
