OoO Get out of here! Robert Downey Jr. is a CONSERVATIVE?!!

"I have a really interesting political point of view, and it’s not always something I say too loud at dinner tables here, but you can’t go from a $2,000-a-night suite at La Mirage to a penitentiary and really understand it and come out a liberal. You can’t. I wouldn’t wish that experience on anyone else, but it was very, very, very educational for me and has informed my proclivities and politics ever since." - RDJ, April 2008

I've never cared much about celebreties, you see. So I wouldn't know this.

I completely squeed when I heard the Iron Man 2 quote about privatizing world peace and his parry to the Senators regarding property & liberty in the original trailer, which it made me wonder, but...... I kinda figured, "Oh. Well, at least Tony Stark is a conservative." But RDJ?

Conservative?!--> <--REALLY?!!

OoO

Holy crap!!

We NEVER get the hot ones!

Well, that solves the absolutely essential decision of favorite actor I've been pondering the last few days: Johnny Depp or Robert Downey Jr?

Aha. Need I answer that now? XD

RDJ is so hot.

And I'd be really interested to read more about his political views. I wonder what kind of Conservative he is? A real one? ;)

THIIISSS is soooo true!!! I can't take the hottness! It KILLS me!

Oh wikipedia (which I totally go to when I want to see someone's political beliefs. :p) and it said he went to the GOP 2008 convention. :) There's only like 2 actors that I know of and like that are conservatives and I hate to say it, but it does sort of change how I look at them. :p (Mostly because I'll see them and go *SQUEE* he has the same political beliefs!) And mostly because I just assume that all actors are liberal. :p

I always sorta knew, even in the first Iron Man.

Also, there are other decent looking conservative actors out there:

Bruce Willis
Denzel Washington
Samuel L. Jackson

Also, we need to get some Reach playing in more :P *pokes your Spartan armour*

RDJ is so hot.

Quoted for repetitive affirmation. ;D

I wonder too... Although considering the quote, I don't think he's a wishy-washy moderate. Moderates are too careful about calling anyone a liberal... According to a Fox story written in 2009, his publicist said he does't speak on political matters. But he did attend the 2008 GOP Convention... which makes me feel like an absolute idiot now, because I had a chance, albeit a slim one, to go to that, and I didn't even make the effort. =/ Apparently John McCain made conservative Hollywood actors feel like they could come out a bit more because John McCain had been a media darling...

I know! It's just kinda like... "O_O Uh wut? A really hot actor doesn't think my closest political beliefs which are those of half of America are backwards, racist, bigotted, and homophobic?? He's not gonna appear with Chavez and speak publicly about how he wishes the US was a commune?" It doesn't happen!

Well, actually it does more often now but... As awesome as John Voight is, he's just... he's just not hot. lol

I saw that about the 2008 GOP convention! And now I feel like an absolute moron for not even going to the State Convention where I would have had a tiny sliver of a chance to go to National! I didn't want to go for John McCain... But I would have wanted to go if I'd known RDJ was gonna be there!

It's hard not to let it affect you. Most Hollywood stars don't comment often about politics, but when they do run their mouths, you find out that the practically hate half their fans. :( I'm glad RDJ is mostly silent about his opinions for the libbies' sakes... I really shouldn't be so compassionate, though. ;D

The first Iron Man gave me hints, too. I thought it was more attributable to the story's author than RDJ himself, though.

Bruce Willis is awesome. Ooo! Denzel Washington! I'm constantly discovering that he's on our side. I think this is the third time...

LOL Samuel L. Jackson was hilarious in Iron Man 2. Have you seen it yet? I can't wait to go see it again.

I KNOW!! It's only out for a limited time! But I have work I have to finish first. :( I won't be able to play until at least tomorrow!

I know!! And haha that's what I think about every time I see an actor, seriously. XD

ROFL!! I was drinking when I read the "he's just...he's just not hot." part! My more monitor got a shower! I know the lady who plays Janeway on ST: Voyager is a conservy and so is one of the guys on CSI:NY. And I knew that Voight was too. :)

*nods* Yup, it DOES change how you see an actor. :/

Ohhh you'd appreciate this! XD My speech communication teacher is a conservative! I thought all college professors were supposed to be liberal! lol But it's great because she's doesn't like Obama or Hilary (don't get her started on Pelosi!)and she makes these random comments that she really doesn't like Hilary, it cracks me up to no end. A few weeks ago she was saying something about what not to say in a speech or something and said "Damn Conservatives!...I'm a conservative so I'm allowed to say that" (she wasn't actually saying that she was saying not to say that ;) )which cracked me up and the next day after class I went up to her and said "So...you're a conservative" and I said how I liked what she said the day before and she said "uh oh...did I say something wrong" and I said no because I was a conservative too and found it hilarious XD She said she was glad to know that there's at least one conservative in her class! :D She said last semester and last year she didn't even admit that she was a conservative in from of her classes because sooo many people are liberals and love Obama...but she said she felt that she had a better chance of not being criticized for being one this semester! :D

Lol My apologies to your computer screen!

Ehh... Janeway wasn't my favorite, but she did definintely know how to kick Borg butt.

I was super excited last year to find out Gary Sinise is a conservative. I don't remember what he was in before to make me a fan of his, but I rode Mission to Mars at Epcot so many times while I was at Disney as it's my favorite ride. He's the "Capcom" for that, which essentially means he's the famous guy Disney got to act for the ride instruction and entertainment. I think he's doing some auctioning stuff for Glenn Beck, actually... Or maybe it's with Sean Hannity..?

Awesome about your teacher! LOL I haven't gotten one of the elusive conservative professors yet, but I have had some really good liberal ones. The ones that are there to make you think and challenge you are good - my best two profs were actually very open about their political beliefs and even put joke questions on the tests regarding those beliefs. But they allowed friendly debate; my government teacher even gave me bonus points on an extremely conservative essay I wrote regarding the judicial system. She said she couldn't disagree more, but that I had thoroughly researched the subject and she couldn't not give me bonus points.
