I must admit, I completely agree with you on all points- the woman=slapping-man thing has annoyed me for the longest time as well (well. It was funny when I was 13 and reading Ranma 1/2, but it got old fast. Now that I'm older and more mature, I see the atrocity for what it is).
The woman-violence thing has actually become one of those things that can instantly turn me off a decent show/book/whatever, even when, or perhaps especially, when it's played for laughs. It's not funny. It's dehumanizing (for both parties, since it seems a lot of the time the slapper is a decent human being most other times), shallow writing, and generally all around wrong.
... And just as a side, I'd actually like to hear the Dialogue and Body Language Rant. I'm most curious.
