The woman-violence thing has actually become one of those things that can instantly turn me off a decent show/book/whatever, even when, or perhaps especially, when it's played for laughs.

Amen to that! I mean, unless we're talking about some situation like torture or a terrible home environment, I tend to bring the author's name to mind and question, "Really? Really? THIS is what you think is an accurate portrayal of human interaction?" I just can't take those people or their pieces seriously.

I'd actually like to hear the Dialogue and Body Language Rant. I'm most curious.

lol Maybe I'll do it one day, then; it will have to include examples, I'm sure. You should pay attention to the way some actors move while they speak, though. TV actors most commonly. It's sooooo overly dramatic while they're saying the most boring things. And then they'll often say the most off the wall and askew things in response to various different stimuli. The question that comes to mind is, Who would actually SAY that in this circumstance?! ;D
