Instead of making you wait until the album is released, I thought I'd share my excitement for this song with you now. I decided with this piece to video document it's creation. This is literally the first time I played the song through in its entirety. His name is Sentry The Defiant. - Claudio
List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LiveJournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.
I just played a brass instrument for the first time! GO ME!!
Yeah, it really hurt. ^^;; But I'm excited, anyway. XD
I found Kidd's french horn in my closet; apparently, she had been practicing in there last night before I got home. This, of course, meant that it was fair game.
I had no idea how to use it, though; I'm a woodwind, so it's always been fast, straight air. So I tried that... and after I stopped seeing stars, I noticed that no sound had come out. I tried again, lower and higher, still no sound. Then I thought about the buzzing exercises that the brass always did in band class, so I tried "spitting" in the mouthpiece.
Eureka! =D
Add my experience as an oboe with the ability to constantly adjust to the band's sharpness or flatness, and I was able to play without valves from a concert bottom space F to nearly a top space E. ^_^
Pretty difficult not to use my diaphram very much, though; after learning for so many years how to have a supported sound, it's difficult to abandon that. It hurts enough as it is at the moment. ;)
I think I may just pick it up, though. After all, the french horn is my favorite brass instrument. All though, I do love the euphonium and, on occasion, the trombone. Plus Kidd's in band for the next three years at least. It would be cool to play woodwinds, brass, and percussion! =D Even if I can't remember how to read the percussion music. XD - At least when it's the x's and suches and not tonal notes. Mallets aren't too difficult... Though how people play with 2 and 3 and even 4 per hand at once... @_@
Can't sleep... So I'm surfin' the net for unplugged, acoustic versions of songs. These are the best of what I've found.
Breaking Benjamin - So Cold
This has been a favorite of mine for quite some time. I love it and prefer this version to the album one.
My favorite parts are the variation on "You really are" and the way he cuts off those notes. ("All righ'!" "Insi'!" etc) As well as the re-written/exposed guitar parts.
AFI - Endlessly She Said & Ziggy Stardust (By David Bowie)
Davey speaks. ^_____^ He says exposed. *giggle* - Okay, okay! I'm joking! =P
This is AMAZING. Seriously the BEST cover I've ever heard. O.O Perhaps it's because I love Davey's voice in the lower octaves, but then there's the guitar and percussion... Jade & Adam rock my socks. ^_^
Then in the next song, he vocalizes! Hee... ^___^ And vibrato... =D Gotta love his expressions throughout it all. :)
And... I love with how much passion they play. ^-^
My Chemical Romance - Cancer
PERFECT PITCH!! XDXDXD Perhaps there was a trick to the way they left the song off before this, and that's how he knew the exact key and pitch without anything. Still, it's freakin' SWEET cuz he NAILED IT! XD With all the crowd cheering and noise, he nailed it!! - And not just the first note, but the entire phrase. He's got intonation. 8) *waves Gerard Way flag*
This is almost acoustic - due to the huge concert it's set at. He does mess up a bit towards the end of the middle; just proves that they're real. (AHEM! *cough cough* Ali *cough cough*)
Is it just me or is he kinda hot in this?? ^^;; He still looks better with black hair, IMO, though I am glad that he lost weight. ^_^
Incubus - Pardon Me
Another fav. Gotta love that part with the guitar... ^___^ (Right after he sings, "Don't ever be the same!" the first time.) And naturally, the lyrics of this song: Pardon me while I burst into flame. XD
The verses of this song always get me. And "Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah..."
Coheed & Cambria - Everything Evil
Yes, that voice is real. ^_^ This is awesome because it's perfect. There's nothing easy about C&C's songs. They're all difficult pieces of music, and it's amazing that there are no mistakes! O.O
Check out the convo below it on youtube. XD
This is one of the reasons I'm a rock girl. ^_^ Pop artists can't do this. They need their studios and the magic buttons of the sound editors. =P (Unless they're American Idols... *loves Daughtry and is unashamed*)
Still on the bands, called into question once again is whether or not Davey Havok is straight. O.o Not that I care; I'm just curious after finding so much debate about it. Heated debate. Everyone just assumes, and though he has used the gay f-bomb (that rhymes with maggot) in reference to AFI as a band in interviews, I've yet to see or hear him use it in reference to himself. And people are claiming that he has a girlfriend. (Lucky, lucky, LUCKY girl!) Not that it matters, but... it's just kind of like that I want to know which side is right, ya' know? I wouldn't be totally excited if he was straight even though I still have no chance and wouldn't dream of trying in the first place.
Mmm. 5:00 and I'm still not willing to sleep. I did get 10.5 hours last night and another 4 today, so I should be good... Though I'll probably fall asleep some time before 9 when I have to get up. Joy.
