Halloween 2007: Godric's Hollow

Well, this weekend wasn't an ENTIRE waste; I did get two things accomplished: I picked out Minni's Halloween costume (It's just a little pirate pumpkin t-shirt. She's SO CUTE in it!! XD) and I had a brilliant idea for our Halloween decorations this year. My mom really liked the idea, and she put me in charge of doing it!

Cut for those who haven't read the Deathly Hallows yet. If you haven't, GO READ IT. =P

This year, I'm going to turn our front yard into Godric's Hollow! =D - Or actually, it's more of the Potter's house with a miniature GH graveyard.

I will have Terri's help, but she's more into creating her own costumes, which is traditionally something we've always done.

Currently, the layout I have in mind includes:

- Life-size Voldemort standing in the front yard with a fan beneath his billowing robes
- 2 shadow scenes flashing in green light from our windows on plain white sheets (James vs Voldemort and dead!Lily and Harry vs Voldemort)
- A small *CHEAP* fence (for book compliance as much as to keep little kiddies away from Voldie)
- A sign that reads at the corner, "Welcome to Godric's Hollow" and probably a teeny tiny disclaimer
- The sign from in front of the Potters' house, directly copied word-for-word
- The graveyard from the book to include the Potters and possibly the Peverells and Godric Gryffindor
** On Halloween, fog across the yard and eery Harry Potter music, plus me in standing guard in the shadows in full Organization XIII costume - people will mistake me for a Death Eater. XD

=D Awesome, yes? I know it sounds technical and difficult, not to mention obsessive but I've done most of this stuff before - minus the life-size Voldie and the shadow scenes, but who doesn't know how to make a scarecrow? He's just an upgrade. ;) Still looking for techy devices for the shadow scene idea; they need to flash like timed lightning for the effect I have in mind.

Originally, my idea was concieved in bitter sarcasm: "You know, since JKR felt such a need to kill so many people in DH, we should make our yard a graveyard for everyone she killed. Including Hedwig."

Halloween is my second favorite holiday; it's trumped only by Independence Day. ;) So I'm TOTALLY into doing all this! I can't wait to start!! XD

That sounds SO awesome!! Take lots of piccies when you get it done!! =D I still need to think of what I'm going to do this year... I already have an idea or two, but I'm not sure if I want to stick with one of those. ^^
