1. Why do you write fanfiction?
Because fanfiction is how big kids play barbies: with better plots and no dolls. j/k!! - All though, since someone else in S/J fandom mentioned it, I can't help realizing how true it sorta is. lol
I write fanfiction because it's a way to grow as a writer without having to put my original ideas out there. I get to play with already awesome characters and work on basic story elements aside from creating everything. And of course there are the awesome communities and people that are involved. There's the fact that you can get instant opinions right up front from both people you do and don't know, which gives a good basis for how you're doing.
Mostly, though, it comes down to that I love the characters, and I love to write, so Plunnies Happen. XP
2. What made you start?
Well, if I apply the Barbie Doll theory, then my first bit of fanfiction was played with Barbie dolls for the Little Mermaid - I always played Prince Eric and Terri was always Ariel and Ursula. XD
Actually, I've written stories since before I can remember. Terri and I got in trouble literally every night because we would stay up "talking." - We were writing stories with each other. There were originals and "continuations" - verbal forms of fanfiction since we never wrote them down. Continuations were the romance genre and everything else was fantasy/sci-fi. Usually, continuations were for Disney movies, though I think we continued a couple books and a Dr. Suess... thing... of our own.
Writing on my own started in 4th grade with the encouragement of my homeroom teacher; fanfiction started in 9th grade in the form of RPGs with my friends. Back then was when I first hatched the idea of Tactical Espionage which I held onto until I bit the bullet in October of 2005 having found BI when I officially wrote and posted for the first time.
3. Slash, het, or gen?
Ahh... Het mostly, though I like gen and am often tempted to write it. I usually end up entering undercurrents of het, though, which take over at minimum half the plot focus.
4.What fandoms do you write in?
In order of starting, Gundam Wing - all canon het couples, Harry Potter - R/T & R/Hr, and Stargate SG-1 - S/J.
5. What fandoms do you read in?
Same as above. If I read it, I write it.
6. What's the worst story you've ever written?
Ahh... The Headless Haunt, I suppose. I spent a month agonizing over it, and in the end, either no one could sit through it or no one had the guts to tell me what was wrong with it. I'm still too close to having written it, so I'll have to go back in a month or three so I can read objectively to find out. I think, though, it may have to do with it being Teddy centric with too many details despite my attempts for it to remain Lupins centric. And I felt at the time of writing it that the Headless Horseman may have been a stretch as far as him being there...
7. What writers are your inspiration?
Mostly other fanfic authors at the present because we do the same thing, only they're better than I am, so I feel a sort of relevant connection. And of course, the historical standards - Walt Whitman, TS Eliot, Jane Austen, Emily Dickenson... Abraham Lincoln. Have y'all ever read any books by George Washington? There's one book of his all about manners; it's hilarious.
8. WIPs or completed stories only?
HA! I have... what? 4 WIPs, original and fanfiction? With the original sort of being like real life fanfiction, aka a well-written RPG. In fact, I should probably swear off one-shots and just concentrate on the WIPs. (Fat chance; I'm terrible!)

Date: 2007-12-20 08:27 pm (UTC)I'll hold my hands up and say I haven't read The Headless Haunt yet. We seem to have gone almost from one challenge straight to another and it was as much as I could do to keep up with all the fics that had to be read for the awards. Possibly other people got behind as well. I am planning to take a week or two 'off' in January just to try and catch up on stuff. That's if I'm ever ready for Christmas, of course... ;)

Date: 2007-12-21 10:31 pm (UTC)I'd be lying if I said that it didn't/doesn't upset me that, as to my knowledge, no one read it or said anything. It even discouraged me for a little while, even though I knew it shouldn't. It's not like I hold it against anyone but myself. It's a learning experience, anyway. :) And I had fun... torturing myself over it to get it completed. lol

Date: 2007-12-22 12:28 am (UTC)If I solemnly swear to read it after Christmas and give you my honest opinion, will that help? :)
And six WIPs?! OMG! ;)

Date: 2007-12-22 12:58 am (UTC)Yes, indeedy. Six! Scary. And I wonder where all my time goes! But I'm technically not allowed to work on the 6th, because I really want that one to get published, and I'm nowhere near a publishable level right now. ;)
How's your Meta fic comin', btw? Mine has a grand 657 words or so... I'm soooo good at procrastinating! XD
