Interview Me!
Jan. 30th, 2008 07:28 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
If you are willing to be interviewed (five questions) just comment and say so and I'll come up with five questions just and especially for you. Post your answers, then post the same offer in your own journal.
Come on! You know you wanna play even if we've already done this one before! =D Especially y'all new buddies! *poke poke*
mrstater's questions:
1. What is it about Texas that you just couldn't live anywhere else?
I honestly have no idea; I only know that I love Texas as much as I love the US, but I'm more apt to identify myself as a Texan rather than an American. I've always been infatuated with the Wild West and cowboys. I always wanted a horse (he would be black with white socks and a little white crest between his eyes; his name was Oreo. YES! I had an imaginary horse!) and to be a cowboy. Not a cowgirl because they had to wear skirts while guys got to wear chaps and ride the Chisholm Trail. Pecos Bill was probably one of my first crushes. I was so into lassos. I love the sight of the Texan flag, bronzes, browns, and golds together, Cowboy hats, boots, the Texas sky... Oak trees. It's just bred into me! And ain't no where else could be home!
2. Is there a fanfic you wish I would write?
Aha! I am a dork: I shouldn't do memes while on the phone! lol Fics that I want you to write - this makes more sense as a question!
Uh... Yes! But not in particular. I'm currently dried up for ideas in R/T, which is namely why I haven't been writing it lately. So I can't think of anything specifically, - although, there'll never be enough OotP R/T in the world! - but I get excited any time you release a fic. Which, I really should review your latest one... lol
3. What was the first fanfic you ever read? The first you ever wrote?
Ohhhhhh.... Considering how scarred I was, it's a shock that I wasn't scared away, let alone that I participate so avidly now!!
The first fic I ever read was a messed up version of the Gundam Wing Boys playing Little Red Riding Hood. It was.... uh... gay smut. Threesomes! O_O My friend handed it to me and said, "Here! This is what you've been missing!" Once they started... licking each other... I stopped reading all together. *shivers* I never accepted fanfiction from her again, but I did start looking it up for myself, and I discovered
blkros. =D And I don't know if it was Traitor to the Cause or To Honor & Protect that I read first, but I was addicted - to both fic and her writing. lol
First fic I wrote was Tactical Espionage; it was a good 5 years in the making, and I have to admit that the title was jacked from a video game. It has stayed for 2 years without an update. *cough* Yeah, not too proud of that...
4. If you could meet any world leader or politician, who would it be and what would you say to him/her?
I'll take this as past or present because I can't really think of anyone in our time. I'd be torn between Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson. Assuming I could speak, I would simply ask, "May I shake your hand?" and try to have a short regular conversation with them. About the weather, even.
I might also, if it was GW or TJ, be tempted to ask some hypotheticals such as, "Did you mean for a right to privacy to exist in the Constitution? Should that right be able to encompass abortion?" or some suches... lol
5. If you could study at any university in the world, which would it be and what field would you pursue?
I'd go to both Texas A&M and TCU!! Booya! Actually, Aggie as I've been raised to be, I'd go for TCU; they have a really awesome English program, and I absolutely love the campus, professors, and classes. I'd pursue exactly what I am now: English teacher and writer. ;) It's cool to be able to say I'm following my dreams!
morrighangw's questions:
1. What would be the most ideal way to start your morning?
The same way I start every day, Morri: Try to take over the world!! XD
Nah. Uh, I'd start working on writing, like I do every morning with a little snuggle pup, and then I wouldn't have to get dressed for work or even go to work. ^___^ Because I'd already be there, with Ace in my lap!
2. If you could see one wild animal in its natural habitat, what would it be? Why?
Heh. I miss Animal Kingdom a lot, because even though they were controlled environments, the purpose was to make them as natural as possible, and I was always visiting the animals.
I guess at the moment, I'd like to see my bat friends from Animal Kingdom in their natural homes. I know that's weird, but I spent a lot of time there. Something about them... I don't know. Their bodies are creepy, but I don't fear them; they're fruit bats, and they were very calming for me to visit. If I was upset, I'd go watch them and the tigers, and then chillax and playfully chase/follow the birds around in the open aviary. I miss being able to do that.
In general, I'd love to see a bald eagle from his natural habitat - aka, the sky. :) It would be deeply inspiring. I'd also love to see a falcon swoop and catch its prey! Oh! And I'd liked to have seen my osprey friend one last time! ;)
Yeah, you said one, and I totally ignored you on that count! XP
3. What's one thing that you've always wanted to do, but haven't gotten around to yet?
If I say get a book published, I think that's cheating because you already know that.
So I'll say... skydive. It's something I'll probably never do, but I'd love to do it just to conquer that ultimate fear. I'm very midly afraid of heights, and I'm afraid of free falling until I actually am free falling - then I love it. :)
4. If you could meet any writer (living or deceased), who would it be and why?
O snap. Uh... Just one???
I can't decide between Walt Whitman, TS Eliot, or Emily Dickenson. And it's funny that they're all three poets when I suck at poetry and am not interested in writing it, but... I don't know. The three of them have always inspired me. Walt Whitman with being a trailblazer with blank verse, TS Eliot with his ability to just capture my imagination with a few flourished words, intriguing me about characters and places I wouldn't ever care about otherwise, and Emily Dickenson with her many, many problems and eventual suicide, and yet she still gave the world so much. Just the thought of any one of them makes me want to give writing my all.
Or maybe I'd like to meet Thomas Paine or Benjamin Franklin or Alexander Hamilton. I'd love to meet the authors of the Federlist and Anti-Fedarlist papers, the people that wrote of Freedom while it was still a new concept and entirely theoretical how our Founding Fathers were designing it to be.
5. If there was one thing you could change about yourself, what would it be?
I would change the fact that I'm always angry or frustrated about something. 98% of the time, it's over something I don't even know, like right now; I'm just angry underneath the surface for some undefinable reason, and I don't have a clue why. I'll figure it out in a couple days and confront it, feel great for a day or three, and then start all over. I'd really just love to break that cycle and never have to deal with it again, because it's pretty stressful. In fact, it is stress - apparently, it's how I deal.

Wouldn't that be fascinating? I wonder if Washington and Jefferson might have very different stances from each other, given their different religious convictions (or lack of religious convictions), or if they managed to transcend those differences and have the same view of what the Constitution encompassed.
This married spud asks you for to hit her with five good 'uns. ;)

Date: 2008-01-31 04:03 am (UTC)I have, only... I've never been able to come up with anything I think would be interesting. Much as I love the Wild West, I've never been a fan of Westerns. lol If I did anything remotely "regional," it would actually be a time period - the American Revolution. I love how our country was founded, and I don't care if I've romanticized it!
I wonder if Washington and Jefferson might have very different stances from each other...
I wonder the same thing. I often wonder what they'd say about slavery and civil rights - especially Jefferson since he had slaves. I don't think Washington did, though. It's also interesting that Thomas Jefferson's letters are about as contraversial as some Biblical texts regarding his thoughts on the separation of Church & State. lol And inverse to me meeting them in their time, I wonder if they'd be proud of us as we are now.
1. WHY do you like Macs better than PCs??! (Aside from the whole... Mac being hot and all. lol)
*pauses to play indoor football with coworkers over the cubicles*
2. What are your top 3 political issues for the Presidential Race this year? Do you think you'll be able to vote for anyone who is not Ron Paul?
3. What was your favorite Disney movie growing up and who was your favorite Disney Princess?
4. Thinking about becoming a published author, do you want to become a famous, well-known bestseller? As in the fame that comes with?
5. 20 years in the future, where do you think we'll be technologically? What super awesome gadgets and miracle drugs do you think we'll have?
