Happy Fourth of July!!
Jul. 4th, 2009 12:00 amHappy 233rd United States of America!!!
This here is pretty powerful stuff. :) It's from the John Adams miniseries; it's the Declaration of Independence - first accepted in that famous room, and then read to the people.
Can you imagine? Signing that document, knowing that you've just signed your own death warrant? But we definitely wouldn't be here if they hadn't had the incredible courage to do so.(And I wouldn't be fangirling about them two centuries later, either.)
I wonder if they would be surprised to know that the U.S. and GB are pretty close allies now. :) - Of course, they were technically Englishmen until today 233 years ago, and originally, they hadn't wanted it to come to revolution.
I am so grateful to be an American citizen, endowed with all the rights from our Creator which are protected by our Constitution. I'm so glad y'all can and do disagree with me vehemetly on many things, and that we're able to say whatever we want about them.
Happy Independence Day, everyone!
Today, I'm going to TEA Party! XD
