Governmental DIS-approval Ratings
Jul. 9th, 2009 11:41 amYou know, I really don't want to be this person. I really was so much happier when my focus was fanfiction and favorite TV shows with my occasional political tangent. Politics has always been a passion of mine, but its never been my life before now.
For one thing, I didn't have to take Tums and Prilosec religiously, nor worry about eating salsa or ice cream, two foods which are essential to this little Texan. I can't even concentrate on anything fictional now unless it's a movie, and it only lasts for as long as the screen is lit.
I am of the belief that it is every citizen's duty to do what they can to protect the liberties we enjoy in this nation, to be aware of how our representatives are behaving themselves, and to hold them accountable when they violate our trust.
How selfish would I be to simply ignore it all and enjoy what I have without any passing thought for generations to follow?
But the things that are happening now will affect us before they will affect the unborn, and we will face the consequences of our own actions if we decide to revel in our apathy and do nothing.
So my posts here are part of my something - spreading the word - and I will continue to post even if no one reads. Because I cannot do nothing while our nation travels headlong at breakneck speeds to destroy everything that has made us great.
And we are great, and I don't care of other nations call us arrogant for recognizing such. If that is their claim, then they expose only their own jealousy. No one ever said perfection, but we are good.
People are and have been waking up: the polls below are indcative of the problem - and we have many serious ones on the horizon.
Obama and the Democrats only happen to be the ones in the pilot seat, but we've been headed this way for a long time - they're just taking us there at a faster speed. Our wake up is a steady, slow process, but still faster than what the Washington Elite would have us ever accomplish:

No pretty graphs for the Congressional ratings, but I think it's the more important one. Here are some excerpts:
- Just 18% of U.S. voters now sayCongress is doing a good or excellent job, down from 23% in May.
- Voters are evenly divided on the question of whether most members of Congress are corrupt. (35%) believe they are, while 37% say they are not. But 29% aren’t sure.
- (37%) of Americans even think most members of Congress have extramarital affairs following Nevada Senator John Ensign’s admission that he cheated on his wife with a campaign staffer.
- (58%) don’t think most members of Congress pay all the taxes they owe.
It's not republican or democrat to expect our representatives SERVE our interests and not their own.
It's not republican or democrat to demand honesty and integrity from our elected public officials.
It is not republican or democrat to INSIST they read and TYPE the bills FIRST before voting on them!
And it is nothing short of entirely AMERICAN that we DEMAND they protect the rights of the people instead of the linings of their pockets.
Where are the people? Millions of Americans have turned up in TEA Parties across the nation, but we need millions more! This is OUR country! Our nation of LAWS and justice and LIBERTY! It is up to us to protect it, not to merely punch a ballot every even numbered year to leave it up to the "ruling class." We have no ruling class in America! - Or at least we're not supposed to. We are governed by the laws that We the People give consent of the government to look after.
Yet instead, we listen to the government promise it will take care of us.
I don't need nor WANT a tyrannical government to hold my hand when I invest or should I choose to buy a house! I don't WANT industries or indeed my own very body NATIONALIZED for faceless Washington bureaucrats to make decisions for them and for me!
I want HONESTY and INTEGRITY in Washington, not corruption and greed.
I want the freedom to FAIL and all its lessons be acknowledged and allowed to prevail, not safety nets and backroom deals for only the larges corporations.
I want Freedom for ALL not just a select privileged few.
What do you want? What does ANYONE want? Is anyone willing to fight anymore for the things we take for granted yet hold so dear?
