The current political climate is an odd one; it's certainly one that no one predicted. It was supposed to be Hillary vs Guiliani, remember? Maybe Hillary vs Romney, if the Republicans decided to grow a vertebra - as in singular, witless, whimpy wonders that they are.
While half the left worships Obama as their messiah, Kennedy's Second Coming, and guaranteeing that if he DOESN'T win, it means that America hates blacks - Period. Because that's logical, and it would have nothing to do with his policies - a good portion left secretly hate-hate-hates that he beat Hillary! Hillary hates that he beat Hillary! There's still talk of manuevuring behind the scenes, talk that she may yet steal the nomination. Hubba hubba, dooba dooba! to quote Maja Rushie. Wouldn't that be a riot? Literally.

Okay, and figuratively, too.
But over here in tighty-righty land, the infighting is incredible. Republicans attacking conservatives, conservatives lashing out at Republicans, Republicans questioning the loyalties of conservatives, conservatives leaving the party (*raises hand* such as me), talk of crossing over to vote FOR Obama. And the Libertarians step in the middle believing it's their chance to take over the Republican party, so everyone turns against them.
Yes indeedy, this election sure is different.
And so the question was asked by Republicans to Conservatives: Really. Why are you so emotional about not supporting McCain to the point of helping Obama?
Excuse me?! Well, I answered. And it's a pretty comprehensive answer. You know what the funny thing is? I swore I'd never vote for McCain because he's McCain, but now my main fight with him is actually the party he's leading off a cliff. They want me to really fight against McCain? I'll fight against McCain and publicly spread this!
Besides, some of you have asked me why I refuse to support McCain: Well, here ya' go! Read allll about it! I wash my hands of the Republican Party until they can show me a reason to support them.
And so help me, if one more libbie claims this as a victory for themselves, it will not be pretty. The libs have nothing to do with this.

Because I'm tired of being told that you toe the party's line or you don't love your country. Drink the KoolAid and be a good little Republican Robot. Fund the party and its leaders which continuously abandon the core conservative principles. Bow to the liberalization (that a word?) of the party. And don't you dare say a thing. Nope. You just be grateful that he's better than the other guy here, there, and sort of over there.
Because I'm tired of being told we have no other options. YES, we do! And until we as a country see that, I'm not going to be a party to anymore of its destruction!
Because I refuse to vote against someone based on FEAR. McCain will damage this country with his liberal agendas and domestic policies. Obama will damage the country with his socialist domestic AND foreign policies. Though I doubt we'll be nuked from the face of the earth like so many of you "McCain is our savior" types suggest. Yeah, we'll go down a bit farther with Obama, but one man doesn't have that much power to DESTROY this nation. I have much more faith in America and her ability to bounce back. I'd rather the destruction be placed on the Dems.
And you know what the funny thing is? Much as I agree that the left is treating Obama like the Messiah, the Republicans are doing the EXACT SAME THING for McCain: He's our only hope! Ohhhh save us, McCain, from the EVIL Obama!! Obi Wan Kenobe, maybe. HA!
And the most simple of them all: McCain is not conservative ENOUGH! I DO have the right to demand that of any person I choose to vote for, and it IS a valid reason. I've compromised before, and look where we are, now. Spending out the wazoo, our sovereignty as a nation in danger, and a RINO for our "conservative" nominee. I refuse to support anyone with such blatant liberal leanings, who has no resolve to stick to the principles of conservatism. No, he'd rather be a MAVERICK and "reach across the isle" than respect the people who put him where he is. I doubt he even has principles - or they're not as important as fawning press.
You might have a valid point IF I wasn't also lambasting Obama. So what? Doesn't that mean that I'm also helping McCain get elected by your logic? Or does this only apply to McCain? Must EVERYTHING revolve about McCain? Tell me this: WHY should I help someone get elected by remaining mum to anything I disagree with him about, essentially giving up my freedom of speech for The Party, when I don't support him? I'm doing him no more harm than I am good, and in all honesty, there's more being said publicly about Obama that I'm able to go after than the infighting within the Republican camp.
Here's the thing: if McCain loses, he loses because he can't rally his BASE behind him. This backwards logic that it will be the base's fault is the antithesis of what a LEADER is supposed to be and nothing more than a weak guilt trip. An attempt to shift the blame elsewhere. Surprise of all surprises: another libbie tactic.
I really couldn't care less which one gets elected; I support neither and both are no good for this country in that position. You have to earn my vote. McCain has not done that. Obama has not done that. Neither ever did. So don't preach to me that it will be MY fault that EITHER of these two clowns holds the office. It's yours. I didn't choose him. And I'm not supporting either. Y'all are on your own; I'm merely a spectator, subject to whatever you decide.

Date: 2008-07-14 01:42 am (UTC)I've made several posts about America and her political stances before and quite frankly, I stand by the belief that America doesn't KNOW what she wants. Our country was in trouble LONG before this election came about.
I mean all of the tell-tale signs were there: problems with food, oil, democracy, freedom of speech, foreign policies, etc, etc.
America isn't in bad shape because of this election. America is in bad shape because of the PEOPLE. Besides, the people we elect to office never do anything good anyway. Nine times out of ten, they're always in trouble because of some scandal (whether it revolves around money, sex, etc, etc).
The point I'm trying to make is that while I can definitely understand why no one's really pumped about this election, I think we shouldn't be so quick to blame the candidates for America's problems.
Like I said, America was in trouble long before this election ever came about. Everything that's going on right now is happening because of the choices WE made.

Date: 2008-07-15 02:22 am (UTC)Part of me hopes the repubs lose this election. Most of me doesn't care who wins.
But I certainly did not make any of the choices that led to this election. I voted for GWB, and while I seriously regret that he rarely used his veto pen and that he pushed for amnesty for the illegal aliens, I still support that decision and him. He's a hero, and down the road, people who aren't overcome with pride will realize how great a man he is; history certainly will. Since we went to Iraq, we've been even arguing if people have a right to be free! As if it's up for debate! How can anyone call themselves an American and not believe that everyone deserves the right to be free?
This country is too concerned with what everyone else thinks. Don't pass judgment. Don't stand up. Don't say what you believe. Don't rock the boat. Everyone just play nice! We can all share the toys - you can paint them, and you can lick them, and you can pee on them: no one needs to pass any judgments around here. No kid needs to be allowed to have more than one toy, even if he broght three. And remember: the big kids are watching us from across the schoolyard!!

That and the fact that no one respects (technically it'll soon be respected) him. I mean if we can't respect the leader of our country then it leaves one to wonder: Just WHO will we respect then?
Like I said, America is the one responsible for all of her problems. America is so big on freedom, democracy, freedom of speech, etc, etc and yet we're quick to deny all of those rights JUST so we can get ahead. I mean honestly! What kind of backwards country are we? We say one thing and then we do the complete opposite!
