In the likeness of our current President and messiah, I'd go on vacation. XD
J/K. I'd, through the newly-discovered-by-President-Obama legislative Executive Powers, (He transcends government and the Constitution!!), I'd put in place The Roadmap for America plan. - Considering, you know, Congress wouldn't have time to pass anything.
I'd erase Obama's signature on the Healthcare Bill, force the Senate to pass the Cap & Trade Bill so I could VETO it and thereby ensure it never passes, send troops to the Border, and screw over the EPA.
I would try to fire John McCain & Nancy Pelosi and ultimately fail. BUT everyone would know my desires!
I'd make Glenn Beck my Vice President, whose responsibility it would be to cut spending in half. Rush Limbaugh would become a Supreme Court Justice while Stu & Pat would be my joint Press Secretaries! Ann Coulter I would appoint to my Secretary of State, and George W. Bush would be my Secretary of Defense. XD Paul Ryan would be my Secretary of Treasury, and I'd place RonPaul! in charge ofkilling the Fed!
Sarah Palin I would make the Secretary of Education just to PO and FREAK OUT the Lefties! XDD
I'd establish a Center for Conservative Traditions headed by Sean Hannity, and Bill O'Reilly would get diddly squat!
Just for giggles, I'd divert all funds from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to build walls along our borders.
Lastly, I'd play that tone that only AlGore can hear...
This concludes today's episode of Lefties' Worst Nightmare!

Date: 2010-08-27 03:28 pm (UTC)Also, isn't there an office for Robert Downey, Jr.? Because he's so pretty...
Serious question: Can a former President serve in any kind of government capacity later, as in your GWB scenario? I know you're being silly, but inquiring minds want to know!

Date: 2010-08-27 03:36 pm (UTC)I'm about 98% positive that there aren't any laws preventing previous presidents from holding any office in the government; John Quincy Adams was elected to the House?? after he was President. That was a long time ago though... I know there's debate over whether a former President can be a Vice President after he's served two terms. It's just anti-climactic to do anything else. That's what I've always understood, anyway.

Date: 2010-08-28 06:11 am (UTC)LOL How could the public school system get any worse?? Does it really matter who's in charge? I'm not so much a Palin fan, but I do so love the knee-jerk reactions of fear and revulsion she inspires! LOL I would hope she'd actually eliminate the Department of Education and leave that to the states, though...
And what's wrong with the Roadmap for America plan? Even the
CBO backs it and agrees that if put in place, it will lead America to financial solvency. - Though it is true that we "just" found out the CBO's backing of the Healthcare Bill was a scam, so take that as you will.
Come on. Even I will admit that President Obama does some good in various areas. I'd say my favorite is how much he inspires people, but he's done other meaningful changes and continued multiple necessary policies.

Date: 2010-08-28 01:33 pm (UTC)That's just it! The Education System here in America is already terribly flawed. Put Palin in charge and we'll all be doomed further. If the people who work at the Dept of Education aren't doing jack squat right now, I highly doubt she'll do better. Plus she irritates the hell out of me. Sometimes I think she's more of a political celebrity than anything else dealing with politics. No, it shouldn't matter who's in charge but I'm saying it doesn't matter because clearly nobody is doing that much work. If our system is still so flawed then I doubt she can do a better job. Does that make sense?
I didn't say the Roadmap for America plan was bad. I don't even know what is it but if were to help us stop being so spend happy (I mean everyone) then maybe we should look into it.
Well you know I support the President (not on every policy or decision of course) but I still think it was better to have him as President than having McCain/Palin in office.

Date: 2010-08-29 07:02 am (UTC)Okay... In all seriousness, the others are political commentators and therefore jokes; but what do you have against Paul Ryan? Because he would be my real choice. I don't understand the reactions to him: what has he done???? He's a brilliant, very well spoken economist and Congressman. Out of all the politicians out there, at the moment, he's the only one I actually support for President. I don't have a clue if he intends to run, but if he does... So why???
where would the rest of the funds go?
The funds currently don't exist to run everything; we're over extended. We simply would not owe or use them anymore. If the government ran by the rules we all have to live by, then we'd be bankrupt. Do you know that we're in so much debt/planned debt that even if we were to sell every square inch of land and wealth in the US, we would still be TRILLIONS of dollars short to meet our obligations?
Glenn Beck? ... Plus she irritates the **** out of me.
I've been puzzling over the irrational Beck and Palin hatred for most of today. You should see all the talk of assassination, violent murders of fans, and "Christian" wishes for us all to burn in Hell because of his 8/28 rally. -No, I'm not at all equating what you're saying here to that; I can't imagine you'd ever be anywhere within range of that sort of unhinged, foaming animosity. -Your vague but immediately negative reactions to them are similar, though. There's a lot of hatred out there for both of them, and I can't understand why.
Fact: The man has to spend millions on security for himself, his family, and even his staff. For a political ideology that insists ONLY they profess tolerance and do so 24-7-52, the reaction to political opposition is far, far, far more often than it should be absolutely revolting and remarkably hostile.
See, the thing is that I agree with about 90% of what Glenn Beck says. What's even more indicative of these pervasive beliefs is that I agree with him before he reacts to things. Much in the same vein that you agree with the President before he even does something, we think and believe similarly because of our principles and values. Yet, somehow, for some reason, you and I can be friends, but mention of Glenn Beck inspires...
You know what his biggest push is now and has been for quite some time? He believes that the real problem in this nation is our lack of God. He believes that if we restore God to His rightful place in our country, everything will piece itself back together: corruption, government & corporate greed, morality, honor & respect, etc. I KNOW you believe that exact same thing! You've written about it before! So I just... I don't understand.
I've listened to Chris Matthews and Kieth Olberman before; yeah, I'll make snide tongue-in-cheek comments about them, but in all seriousness, I accept that they have an ideology and set of principles that guide them. I respect that, I respect them, and I respect their right to espouse those beliefs; I truly, truly prefer that they DO espouse them. When they're making statements about political ideology or policy, I don't immediately turn to scoffing and taunting them; I want to debate their premise, because I believe there is a better way.
It would take far more than them or Obama becoming President to make me abandon this nation. We're the last bastion of freedom left in the world, the country that claims to lay all its chips at the feet of Liberty, so I'd have to be pretty desperate. God would have to be outlawed or something.
I just don't get it.
